## New lingohub.com

In 2023, the Lingohub team ambitiously redesigned our website, introducing modern aesthetics and an improved user experience. We aimed to streamline information searches and clearly detail our features and capabilities for easier navigation and understanding. ## New Help Center 

At Lingohub, we're dedicated to offering our users a smooth experience. To achieve this, we've revamped the [Lingohub Help Center,](https://help.lingohub.com/en/) which is now hosted on a separate subdomain. This new setup features a clean and intuitive interface with well-organized sections and categories, complemented by a powerful search function for easy access to necessary information. The Help Center comprehensively covers all aspects of the Lingohub application, with detailed sections on Getting Started, Account Management, Organization, Projects, the Editor, and more. For unique queries, our team is available at support@lingohub.com. We continuously update the Help Center with the latest information and insights about new features and changes.


## New Developer Documentation

Understanding the technical demands of developers using the Lingohub application, we've developed [specialized documentation](https://docs.lingohub.com/api-docs/) focused on the API and various resource files. This dedicated section is tailored for developers, providing in-depth technical insights and step-by-step guides for effectively utilizing Lingohub's API and resources. It's a one-stop resource for all developer-centric information designed to streamline and enhance your development experience with Lingohub.


## New changelog

We introduced a new changelog section in the Lingohub application, designed to keep you informed about all our latest updates. You'll receive notifications about these updates near the "bells" icon in the bottom-left corner. Additionally, the changelog is accessible anytime, with a filtering option to help you easily find specific information.



## New Pricing Plans

Recently, we've revamped our Lingohub plans to be more inclusive and versatile for all users. Starting from December 2023, every subscription tier will include complete access to our CAT tools and features suite. Furthermore, users have the flexibility to enhance their chosen plan with a variety of specialized plugins, available in both free and premium options, to suit their individual needs.



## Updated UI for Lingohub application

In 2023, a major endeavor for our team was overhauling the Lingohub app UI. We took customer feedback seriously and collaborated with design experts to elevate the localization experience. While we've detailed all updates in a separate article, here's a quick summary. For an in-depth look, refer to the original article or continue reading for a brief outline.

The updates fall into three main categories: interface improvements, management enhancements, and new features.

**Interface Improvements:** 

- Our UI and UX enhancements are designed to streamline your localization process.
- The Editor panel now offers dual views for focused translation and bulk actions.
- We introduced simultaneous translation capabilities for multiple languages.
- The dashboard has been revamped to include vital information like notifications, recent orders, and project management details.



**Management features**. We added more flexibility for your Lingohub usage:

- Create and manage user roles by yourself.
- Provide custom permissions for users and API keys.
- Protect the information in your Organization with 2-factor authentication.
- Manage notifications based on your needs.
- Monitor activities with Audit and API logs.
- Manage the projects with folders, marks, and color labels. 
- Create workflows for automatically applying actions to the text segments. 
- Control the financials with the transactions feature and have the automatically calculated fees for your translators. 


**New features**.

- The Marketplace offers new features like contracts, transactions, and text edit reports. 
- Our new plugin allows you to localize your Figma project with Lingohub easily. You can move your text segments from Figma to Lingohub and back.
- We added new integrations with applications. Find the entire list on our website.
- LingoChecks is now called quality checks, but we have retained and improved all the features. Your source and target texts, markup, placeholders, and all other content are controlled by predetermined criteria.
- Apart from the existing "smart" translation memory, which directly learns from your projects, we now provide a file-based translation memory.

## New meetings and experience.

2023 was not only the year of persistent work but also of multicultural team meetings. This year, the Lingohub had the pleasure of bringing together the international part of the team from Poland, Senegal, and Ukraine for weeks full of impressions in Linz, the heart of mountain Austria. The gatherings allowed the team to share knowledge, personally collaborate on projects, and spend time with different activities together, from chilling evenings and productive meetings to active mountain hikes. 


We believe that the 2024 year will be even more productive and full of positive emotions. We are proud to have such great customers as you, whose businesses and ideas inspire us daily. Stay awesome!

## New and Improved UI With an Outstanding UX

### More details with two different editor panel views!

The new Lingohub UI provides two views for the Editor panel – Table and Focus – to make it easier to work with segments. The Table view is intended to provide an administrative overview for segment management, bulk actions, and filtering, whereas the Focus mode allows users to translate text segments without any distractions. 

**Both Editor views feature have**:

- Advanced filtering options for fast searching. You can manage the segments by the list of values: project name, branches, labels, etc. 
- Side panel. This update sees significant changes to the side panel, with a variety of sections that you can configure to see only what you need at the moment.


### Modern design and day and night modes

Just take a look at our brand-new, fresh and modern design. You can choose your preferred color scheme – day or night mode all the time, or it can change depending on the time of day. 

### Multi editor

Translate a few languages simultaneously inside the editor context panel. See the statuses of all the translations, and change the status with the bulk action.

 

### Editor preferences

Set up the editor view based on your convenience. Control the font size, cell display, density, and whitespaces to have the perfect interface for effective work.

### Manage projects with groups

With Lingohub, you are not restricted by the number of projects. In the new UI, you can organize projects into thematic groups to easily access the ones you need. Set colors for each project, mark your favorites, and easily navigate between projects inside the interface.


### New Dashboard
 
We changed the dashboard logic; in the old version, it only showed project data. Now, all this info is available in a separate "Projects" page, while the new dashboard provides an array of important information about your projects – notifications, latest orders, and managed projects. You can also add notes to keep all vital information in a single place. 


### Monitor critical activities with Audit and API logs

Get information about activities throughout your projects, and keep an eye on important changes. Monitor and collect information on your team’s actions (who, when, and what). The Audit log stores data for five years to provide customers with comprehensive information about all their projects.


### Improved security with two-factor authentication:

You can’t be too careful when it comes to the safety of your organization’s data. In the previous version of Lingohub, only passwords were required for authentication. Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to verify account ownership, to protect data from unauthorized access.

### Separate tab for label management

Labels are one of the most important tools for segment management. Lingohub has always allowed you to create as many labels as your projects require. With the new UI, label management is on a separate page that enables filtering by name or date so you can find what you need faster.

## New Features and Integrations
Check out the new features that the updated application offers.

### Control the project versions with branching 

The new version of Lingohub adds branching support to help keep your projects clean. Now you can work with different project versions independently, and rest assured that logic is not violated. Synchronize your projects with repositories, push all changes or create pull requests directly to Git. 


### Export and import XLIFF files for all projects

Now Lingohub supports the XLIFF (XML Localization Interchange File Format). Export the projects, send them to contractors (e.g., translation agencies), and re-import them into the system.

### Roles with flexible permission sets

In the Lingohub Next, you can create and manage user roles yourself. Create the roles (permission set) and provide the list of accesses for each. Assign roles to project members or give unique permissions to each user.

### Marketplace
 
The Marketplace is a new big addition inside Lingohub. It combines well-known translation orders with new features like:

**1. Contracts**. Contracts are your starting point for managing the financial side of the localization process. Contracts, both active and inactive, can now be accessed inside the user profile. The localization manager can set up general and specific rates per word inside the contract, and all future activities will be counted based on this information.

**2. Transactions**. Forget about manual price calculations; Lingohub now does it (all) for you. Based on the contract rates, you can create a transaction for a translator in one click. All activities and costs will be available to them so you get a seamless invoicing process and complete transparency for your team. 

**3. Text edits reports**. We know how much our users already enjoy the reports that give an overview of their team’s activity. We’ve taken reports to the next level by adding a text edits feature. Here you can find not only preliminary information about the changes inside your projects, but also:
- Information about transactions by segment
- Summary by users
- Ability to export data in CSV format 
- Highlighted differences between segments' text versions



### Gain the advantages of Figma and provide context

Localize your Figma project with Lingohub. With our new [plugin](https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1091712683693829044/Lingohub), you can quickly push your text segments straight from Figma to Lingohub and pull them back. The Figma integration allows you to quickly check context and fit text, and Figma screenshots are automatically uploaded to the appropriate text segments to keep your translation teams better informed.

### More notification preferences and better settings

We know how notifications facilitate the management process. Before the update, you could choose between only three types of notifications (daily, weekly, and general). Now you can select which notifications to receive: discussions, translation orders, resource syncs, etc., and when – always, or only during working hours.


### Quality checks

The LingoChecks you know and love is now [quality checks](/features/quality-checks). We kept all the power of LingoCheck, and you can rest assured that your source and target texts, markup, placeholders, and all other features are defined by the predetermined criteria.


### File-based translation memory with TMX support

In addition to the "smart" [translation memory](/features/translation-memory) that learns directly from your projects, we now provide a file-based translation memory. Already have translations in TMX format? Import them inside Lingohub, and your projects will use them immediately.



### Improved [term base](/features/term-base) for a better experience

**a. TBX format**
We added support for TBX files, which you can use to simplify the distribution and maintenance of terminology databases. 

**b. Context images** 
Upload images term by term to provide more information to the translating team.

**c. Terms matching for improved pretranslation**
Enjoy full control over the parameters (fuzzy, prefix exact, custom) for your term matching. This determines how the system will recognize terms and which suggestions it will provide.

**d. Case sensitive**
Decide how the system will match terms when providing them to translators. For example, a case-insensitive search for "cat" will also recognize and provide for "Cat," "CAT," and "caT."

**e. Advanced info**
Provide any additional information about terms that you think might help your translators in their work.

Welcome Lingohub Next

**Linz, 20.02.2020 - The Upper Austrian company Lingohub is starting an FFG-funded research project with the FH Hagenberg to the tune of 600,000 euros. Over the next two years, the money will be used to develop a virtual assistant for the quality analysis of translations. With the help of artificial intelligence, errors are automatically detected and thus belong to the past.**

Lingohub was founded in 2012 by Helmut Juskewycz (CEO) and Markus Merzinger and offers its approximately 1,500 customers a localization & translation management platform for applications and websites. The hidden champion from Linz is used by development and product teams from all over the world to manage software translations more productively. These software developers are provided with a simple solution to automatically incorporate translations into their development process. Translators, on the other hand, can directly translate and manage the texts via a web interface.

## Linguist - the virtual assistant for all translations

With the research project "Linguist - Translation Quality Analysis", funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), the company is now taking the next step in the translation industry.

Linguist is a virtual assistant for product and translation teams. It can assess the quality of translations, point out translation errors and actively make recommendations for translations.

"*By 2019, more than [3.8 billion people](https://www.bondcap.com/report/itr19/#view/9), already more than half of all people, were online. Non-English-speaking markets, in particular, are becoming increasingly important, which is why software companies have to translate into more and more languages. Due to short release cycles and growing translation requirements, translation errors occur time and again. With Linguist, we want to ensure the quality of translated texts, as these make a decisive contribution to the user behavior and user satisfaction of our customers*".

Have you seen the new look on our website today?  

It's been an exciting day for us at Lingohub. In the last weeks (or really: months), we've been working on something new. And today's the day to share the news with you. 

In the last decade, Lingohub has evolved from a small founding team of two developers to a company with a translation management software that is used by hundreds of teams and developers around the world, making the software translation process less messy. 

Let me take you on a quick journey. 

<h2>How everything started</h2>

The idea of Lingohub really dates back to 2008. More than a decade ago, I was working as a software developer for various technology companies and experienced problems with translations and the painfully chaotic translation process. 

As a developer, I would send a YAML file to translators asking them to provide translations for new product features or new languages we supported. But then I always got back Microsoft Word files. With that approach, I had to manually copy/paste every single text back to the YAML file.

During the years of 2009 and 2011, this painful process kept coming back over and over again.  

In November 2011, I was at a cocktail bar with Markus (my future co-founder), and I told him about this problem. As he understood the pain points and use case I was describing, it was at this point and time, that we both agreed to quit our jobs. As naive and enthusiastic as a developer with a fresh idea can be, we started working on what will become Lingohub.  

We left our jobs and set out to build the first version of Lingohub that went live in August 2012. 

<h2>Why we do what we do</h2>

In the beginning we believed that we need an outside investment to get our product and company off the ground. And taking VC money seemed to be the solution for that.  

Pretty soon, though, we discovered that it doesn’t really feel right for us. As we were more focused towards building solutions that provide real value for our customers (and less focused on numbers crunching for investors), our vision of bootstrapping became clear. 

Ever since, we are on a journey to help our customers succeed. What this really means is that we help them expand their software products.  

Language connects people and, therefore, we believe that Lingohub helps makers to bring their applications to a global audience by providing them a better and faster way to manage and maintain translations. 

<h3>How are we doing this?</h3>

Software makers fight the manual tasks of software translations by automating as many steps as possible in translation management. This allows teams to ... 


<ul><li>be faster and more efficient</li><li>avoid errors in translations = improve text quality</li><li>reduce the overhead in adding new languages</li></ul>



And in the end, providing a multi-language software product, means more happy customers on your end.

A year ago, we started thinking about how we could express this promise in a new way. And today, we're taking a first step by rolling out our new website. 



This is more than just a design makeover. We believe that this is a better, more accurate representation of who we are.







<h2>Same same, and better.</h2>



We’re certainly not the first company to redesign a website. But we think the design and technology decision we made says a lot about who we are as a company.  



Two things make us particularly proud and say a lot about how we are as a company: 



1. Our customers: We’re proud of our customers, you keep us excited and inspired. You, who have been with us since the very beginning. The amazing teams that have been growing with us in the previous years. And yes, you - who just joined our community.



With your trust comes great responsibility - we will always help you succeed in your own adventures.



2. Sustainability: We are fully bootstrapped. When we started with Lingohub, we started from scratch, and we wanted to build something sustainable and calm. Up until today, our bills are paid by our customers. No outside investments, 100% bootstrapped. Everything that we do goes directly into building something of value for our customers. 



<h3>Where will this bring us?  </h3>



To be honest: I don’t know. We don’t have super-duper hyper-growth plans for Lingohub. We don’t want to be another tech unicorn. We grow with our customers; we grow with you. 



We keep doing our best to keep Lingohub on the pulse of productivity and development tools. And we are eager to keep our promise of helping you with translation management. 



<h2>On the move for 2020</h2>



We listened closely to the feedback of our customers and partners. That having said, we are currently working on some big new updates. Those updates will arrive later in 2020 and are centered around the following topics: 



<ul><li>Editor: The new Editor will provide better context for translators, allowing them to secure higher translation quality faster.</li><li>Mobile: Accelerate your mobile app translations with Lingohub’s new mobile toolkit</li><li>Native GitHub workflow: No more manual work, such as adding new branches or merging branches.</li></ul>

The very first Webclerk’s community conference took place in November 25th in Vienna and we made sure Lingohub was there for the event. 

For one day, 200 something developers and 9 speakers gathered in the gorgeous <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/DSKprLQcGPGk6B1B9">Urania Wien</a> to talk about web, ethics, Black Mirror, and travel through time back to the 80s. 

 <a href="https://webclerks.at/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Webclerks</a> have been organizing meetups since 2016 for the community of web developers and designers in Vienna. 

Here at Lingohub, we share Webclerks philosophy and strongly believe in the unifying power of developers. That’s why we jumped to the opportunity to support this event and the initiative.

And here’s why we loved it. 

## Building the WEB, brick by brick

For the first talk, the brilliant <a href="https://adactio.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Jeremy Keith</a>, shared with us his opinions on the benefits of the long-term thinking and pace layers. 

The end of his speech was inspirational as he subtly demonstrated how web developers are just like builders. We, the devs, make the web together - brick by brick.

## Jedi of the web

In her presentation UX - being a light in a dark, <a href="http://lisa-gringl.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Lisa Grindl</a>, guided us through the processes of detecting dark UX patterns. 

Those are, basically, patterns which trick users into doing things they don’t want, or shaming them so they subscribe to services they don’t really need. She shared how to categorize them and switch to a good pattern. 

Interestingly, she let it be clear that working in a company that is using dark UX-patterns, doesn’t mean you are obliged to be part of it. 

It possible to talk the company into leaving dark UX-patterns for more ethical ways. That, in the long run, is going to be more beneficial for the company as well.

## Gain WEB independence

Data is now the most valuable resource in the world. That is why <a href="https://mxb.dev/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Max Böck</a> showed us how to take back that power from the giants of the web. Surprisingly, it is totally doable. You only need approximately €15 per year (for the domain name) to gain your web citizenship independence. 

This was a great initiation to indieweb, the concept behind it, its growing community and useful tools. Check out RSS, Micropub, and Webmentions.

## Black & White is the new rainbow

In his hilarious talk, <a href="http://www.heydonworks.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Haydon Pickering</a> shared with us all the perks of exclusively working with black and white. Those two put together create the perfect contrast and dynamic. As Haydon believes -

## Building a platform for everybody

<a href="https://twitter.com/bolonio" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Adrian Bolonio</a> showed us how accessibility (a11y) is not an option but a must have for websites. In addition, we learned how to detect accessibility (a11y) vulnerabilities if there are any. 


To do so, he shared with us useful tools such as: 

<ul><li> Lighthouse, </li>

<li> pa11y, </li>

<li>Axe-cli, </li>

<li>WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool) and </li>

<li>NoCoffee - a Vision Simulator that helps check how your website appears to people with vision problems (myopia, color blindness, etc). </li></ul>

## Gaining influence in your organization

In his stakeholder-centric design talk, <a href="https://cheharvey.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Che Harvey</a> explained how to gain influence in your company. Some useful tips he shared with us include:


<ul><li>adapting to your company’s culture. This includes thinking before you act, being patient, understanding and seeing how a decision can benefit the others. </li>

<li>bringing added value while respecting the company’s legacy </li>

<li>and most importantly - empathize with people.</li></ul>

## Going back in time

<a href="https://rachelandrew.co.uk/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Rachel Owen</a> in “The new CSS Layout”, <a href="https://www.sonniesedge.net/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Charlie Owen</a> in “Just an old guard dev in a new guard world” and <a href="https://remysharp.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Remy Sharp</a> in “Using a modern web to recreate 1980S horribly slow and loud loading screens” made us take a nice, weird, noisy and awesome jump in time to what the web was decades ago.  


While Rachel and Charlie eventually came back to 2019 with the web evolution, Remy did exactly what he said in the title of his presentation. He made us stay in the 80s to our greatest delight.

## Personality doesn't bite

For the last talk of the conference, the organizers had a treat for us: <a href="https://www.smashingmagazine.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Vitaly Friedman</a>. The award winning author delighted us with his presentation on the importance of bringing more personality to the web. 


He showed us that being creative and original is what can make you stand out as a developer or as a business. Whether you choose to be provoking, create friction (make your users think) or if you just

## The power of community

The conference was a cozy, inspiring place greatly thanks to amazing people. 


They shared their experience, outlook on trends, learning tips and were more than willing to help your clumsy self to wipe spilled coffee off the floor.  


The sense of belonging to a community is a powerful thing and, in web development, where we never stop learning - this community might just be the most important resource we have.
