A new UI for the LingoHub localization app

Over a year since LingoHub left beta, we are taking the user interface (UI) to the next step. Logging into your LingoHub project this week you will notice it looks a lot more like an actual application - and increasingly less like a website. It is time to focus on your actual project, so we did away with unnecessary horizontal navigation items and introduced a vertical navigation bar to the localization app. The bar will adapt to the context and show the relevant items depending on whether you are in the project inbox, a specific project dashboard or in the translation editor. Quick links will get you do your account settings, profile and support center.

We are tweaking the new UI continuously, so if you notice behavior you are not happy with or notice problems, please submit a support ticket any time. Aside from screen real estate, the new interface is also powered by new technology. AngularJS is one of the key technologies we are deploying across our product to increase functionality, compatibility and speed of the application.

And what will come next? We have already turned our main attention to the translation editor itself. Our goal is to increase your productivity and make it even more convenient for collaborating translators to get their work done, while maintaining a high degree of context and flexibility. Without giving too much away, here is a small screenshot of the direction we are taking. It will feel very “AJAXy” and cut down on the amount of clicking and page-changing. The interface is de-cluttered and optimized. We will announce its release in a newsletter once it is ready.
