Project resources

The resources section of the dashboard is where you manage your resource files, imports, and packages.

Files

The resource files contain the text segments that you want to translate. On the files tab, you can find all the resource files that have been uploaded to your project. The files are sorted alphabetically.

In the resources file overview, by clicking on the action menu on the right you can:

  • open the resource file in the editor
  • download the resource file
  • rename the resource file
  • delete the resource file

To see the status of the translation for each file, click on it to expand it.

You can download only specific language variants of resource files. Expand the file tree and click download for any desired file.

If your project is connected to a repository, you have the option to push or pull your files as well as upload or download files.

Imports

Here you can find a history of all the resource files that have been uploaded to the project.

You can upload new files or previously imported files that have been updated. Whenever you import new files, LingoHub returns a summary of the text segment changes that occurred during the import.

To make this more clear, let's illustrate it with an example. Let's assume a resource file with the following content has been previously uploaded to your project:

{
  "welcome" : "Welcome! The day is saved - use the following tips!",
  "text_segment" : "We refer to a text passage like this as a text segment. Get started with your translations now!",
  "placeholder" : "This is a {placeholder}",
  "love" : "❤",
  "random" : "This is just a random text"
}

Let's update the file as follows:

{
  "tips" : "Welcome! The day is saved - use the following tips!",
  "text_segment" : "We refer to a text passage like this as a text segment. Get started with your translations now!",
  "placeholder" : "This is a {placeholder}",
  "random" : "This is just a random text that has been updated",
  "new": "This is a newly added text segment"
}

After we upload the updated file, this is the result we get on the resource import summary: Img

  • Created: Indicates the number of new text segments created with the import.
"new": "This is a newly added text segment"
  • Updated: Indicates the number of text segments whose contents have changed.
"random" : "This is just a random text that has been updated",
  • Renamed: Indicates the number of text segment keys that have been renamed from your resource file
 "tips" : "Welcome! The day is saved - use the following tips!",
  • Reactivated: Indicates the number of text segments that have been reactivated. For instance, when you upload a resource file that has been previously deactivated, or when you add text segments that have been deleted from your file.

  • Deactivated: Indicates the numbers of text segments that have been removed from the resource file.

 "love" : "❤",

Packages

The packages allow you to manage the versioning of your application and let you backup your translations. A package contains multiple releases that consist of all the resource files of the project at the time they were generated.

You can easily update your package details and/or manage your package releases.

The different ways of adding package releases are to automatically generate them (weekly or daily), generate them manually, or upload them yourself.

You can also change the active release of your package as you wish. Be careful when doing so because setting a new release active will immediately deliver it to your mobile clients.

More information about the packages feature is available here.

Note: The number of package releases that you can create depends on your subscription plan. Adding a new release when you reach the limit will automatically delete the oldest non-active release.
